Make Your Dishwasher A Better Appliance

I don’t know the percentage of people in the United States who have dishwashers now, but I’m sure it’s huge. If your home doesn’t have one, you can boost the home’s resale value by adding one, even more value if you make it a built in unit. But like every appliance there are some maintenance issues that can crop up. This article mentions a few of them with some solutions to try.

Problem: Food left on the dishes after running a wash cycle.

Solutions: Be sure the drains are cleaned regularly kenmore dishwasher repair los angeles, don’t block the internal spray arms with big pots or bowls, be sure all the water can circulate evenly, make sure the dishwasher is level and stable. Also be sure to use high quality detergent and a rinse agent to get your dishes cleaner and streak free.

Problem: There’s a potential for an explosion (truly!) if your hot water isn’t used for a while as hydrogen can build up in your pipes or water heater and then is introduced into something with a heating element like a dishwasher.

Solution: Let hot water run through your sink faucets for a few minutes before running the dishwasher. In case hydrogen fumes were released be sure not to smoke in the house until the air is cleared by opening windows and doors.

Problem: Excessive Noise by the Dishwasher

Solutions: check to see if any tubing or hoses are touches the outside panels of the dishwasher. Those can transmit noise and vibrations. You can also put a carpet piece under the dishwasher to absorb noise. If it’s a new install put the dishwasher between two cabinets instead of at the end of the line. The cabinets will help block the sound, but be sure they aren’t touching as they would also transmit vibrations just like the tubing would.

Avoid Refrigerator Repair With Proper Care

Refrigerator repair is one of the responsibilities that come with owning such an appliance. However, there are ways to keep the repair bills down and the repair man away. Some simple rules to the upkeep of a refrigerator can serve to keep that fridge running smoothly and efficiently for a long time to come. Most of these at home repairs require no purchase other than your basic household supplies and maybe once and a while the replacement of a part or two.

One of the most important at home refrigerator repair tips that you can learn is to clean the outside of your fridge as well as the inside lg refrigerator repair los angeles. Keeping the clutter away from the outside of your fridge space and making sure that there is no build up of dust around the base and back coils can assure a properly balanced temperature within. You see, a refrigerator works at cooling something but releasing hot air into the outside atmosphere through the vents and coils around its frame. If these components are blocked it will not be able to properly and efficiently release the hot air, causing the temperature to rise inside. This will cause the gears and compressors to work harder than normal which will eventually lead to them burning out-more often than not quicker than should be.

Another helpful tip to keep in mind is: overstocking the fridge is bad for it. When there is too much food in body of the fridge it again will have to work extra hard to release the right amount of heat which can lead to mechanical difficulties. While this won’t pose a problem right away, in the long run it will have shortened the life of a, suppose-to-be durable appliance. There is plenty of room in a refrigerator to stock what is necessary and if you happen to buy in bulk you might want to look into freezing some of the products that can be. If your refrigerator is keeping a balanced temperature, not only will the contents taste and smell better they will be healthier as well. You can never go wrong with safety.

Not properly taking care of your appliance can lead to some costly refrigerator repairs. If a compressor burns out it is going to require replacement which is pricey, but if your coils or the like stop working then you face having to replace your refrigerator entirely which can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. It would be better in the long run to simply take the time to provide some upkeep to it instead of waiting for something to happen. In cases such as this, foresight and proper care is definitely more practical then hindsight and lackadaisical attitudes. No matter how you look at it taking the above simple steps-cleaning inside and out, not overstocking- will lead to less problems in the long run. If you are prepared for problems to arise with your refrigerator, why not take it one step further and take steps to prevent such problems.

How to Choose a Commercial Fridge to Perfectly Suit Your Business

If you run a catering or food business, you will understand the need for an excellent commercial fridge. This article shares some advice on how to choose the best fridge to meet your needs.

Commercial kitchens must meet certain health and safety requirements and laws. These include storing foods at the correct temperature. Keeping raw uncooked foods away from cooked, prepared foods, and ensuring there is no cross-contamination.

This is not as easy as some people think samsung refrigerator repair los angeles. For example, if your business serves hot and cold food, savoury and sweet, then you will need fridges for raw meats, vegetables and then also, you will need chilled cabinets for the prepared foods. The correct shelving and storage within a commercial fridge is essential to ensure the various foods types are kept separate and remain uncontaminated by raw produce.

Restaurants can be shut down if inspectors find raw meat juices are contaminating baked goods! And who would want to eat a cream cake that previously had raw beef sitting beside it? The best commercial fridge suppliers understand that a fridge or freezer is not just another piece of equipment. These appliances are essential parts of delivering good quality, healthy food to your customers and they are an important part of ensuring your business is operating legally.

Commercial refrigeration is designed to keep foods at much lower temperature so that it can keep for longer. There are guidelines for every type of food, how long it can be stored, and the temperature it should be stored at. The best suppliers will be able to advise you on the models which will suit the type of food you prepare and the amount of produce you need to store.

All restaurants, caf├ęs, coffee shops, cafeterias, and eating establishments need to have the correct chilling and refrigeration equipment in order to keep the food fresh. Commercial fridges are more powerful than domestic appliances. They are also built to stand up to the rigours of a busy commercial kitchen.

Consider the space you have in your premises. If space is at a premium, you may need to consider some re-modelling in order to have room for the large commercial appliances you will need. Think about ease of use too. There is little point situating a fridge in a basement or away from a kitchen when it is needed constantly. Likewise, you may be able to store your freezer elsewhere, away from the busy kitchen floor, since it won’t be needed as much during working hours.

The size of your business premises, the number of plates you cover at each sitting and the amount of produce you need to store and display will all contribute to your decision about which appliances to purchase. You can also consider specialty refrigeration like a multideck display fridge, or a chilled patisserie so customers can see the produce that’s for sale. These options can also help save space too, since you will be utilizing space in the main body of your establishment. They are also a great way to let customers see the goods that are for sale.

Think carefully before investing in a commercial fridge. Check if the appliance has a warranty, find out what cleaning and maintenance it requires, and above all, ensure you are dealing with an excellent, reputable supplier.

-First, get what you need: 1) a basin with mild soap water, 2) a basin with mild bleach water, 3) sponges or pieces of cloth, and 4) Ziploc bags or other see-through storage containers.

-Unplug the fridge before you begin to clean it.

-Empty the freezer section, and take out the trays that can be removed. Wash the trays in the soapy water and later wet a piece of cloth or sponge in the bleach water and wipe every tray thoroughly. Put the trays to dry in the dish drainer or over paper towels.

-Change the soap water and with a piece of cloth or sponge, wipe the freezer’s interior. Then do the same but with the bleach water. If you have an odor problem, which is very common in offices’ fridges, mix two tablespoons of baking soda in one quart of warm water and wipe the inside of the freezer with it.

-Now, move to the rest of the fridge. Get fresh soapy and bleach waters and wash the pieces of cloth or sponges that you used to clean the freezer. Empty the fridge; take out the food as well as the racks and trays.

-Wash the trays, racks, and the inside of the fridge just as you did with the freezer. Do not forget to clean the grooves where the trays fit into, because these are areas where spills from juices and different foods collect, and remember also to clean the seals around the door.

-Sort the products that you are returning to the fridge and ask your employees to get rid of their leftovers or other items that are out of date. Clean bottles and plastic containers before replacing them in the fridge, and put an open box of baking soda inside to help control odors.

-After the interior of the fridge is impeccable, move to the exterior. Take some soapy water and clean the outside, especially the door handles; get the excess dirt off with the soapy water and then wipe with a disinfectant.

-Plug in the fridge.

It is imperative that you ask your personnel for help in maintaining the fridge clean and free of outdated food. It is there for their convenience, thus, keeping it as clean as possible benefits everyone.

What Kind of Refrigerator Repair Service Do I Need If My Fridge Isn’t Keeping Food Cold?

Experiencing a cooling problem with your fridge can be incredibly frustrating, but getting it fixed doesn’t have to be. The first thing to do is to get a sense of what and where the precise problem is, since there are a number of parts that might have broken down or malfunctioned in some way to cause a cooling issue. Once you know the source of your fridge malfunction, you can take appropriate steps to deal with it, from ordering refrigerator repair parts and installing them on your own to calling a major appliance repair expert for help.

If you have a refrigerator cooling problem refrigerator repair san gabriel, there are a number of visual checks you can perform in order to find what kind of refrigeration repair work you need. You can check if something is blocking one of the fans (there’s usually a condenser fan on the bottom of the fridge and an evaporator fan in the freezer). If there is, then that means the whole mechanism isn’t getting the airflow it needs and is probably overheating and therefore shutting off. You can also look on the back of the fridge at the condenser. A dirty condenser will cause overheating in the refrigerator mechanism, which in turn causes the compressor to cut out momentarily until things cool to a safe level. However, when this cutting off and turning back on happens continuously, consistent cooling is compromised. A third place you can look is the freezer. If there’s excessive frost buildup in the freezer, it can signal a number of different problems with the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, or the defrost control, all of which will affect the overall cooling process.

If you know a lot about appliances and are comfortable checking out your fridge cooling issues on your own or with the help of a refrigerator repair manual, it’s possible to address some of these problems by yourself. Ambitious DIY enthusiasts can certainly fix a blocked fan or clean the condenser coils to get the refrigeration system back in working order. Tackling the electrical components involved in the defrost heater, thermostat, or control is a little trickier, however. Unless you already have appliance repair and electrical systems expertise, these may be solutions best left to major appliance repair experts. In any of the above situations, if you’re unsure of how to go about the diagnostic or repair work, do call a refrigerator repair professional for assistance. It’s much better to get cooling problems fixed quickly and safely than to try to do it on your own if you’re not sure how to go about it.

Fridges can stop cooling properly for a number of reasons. If you find that your food isn’t staying cold enough or is spoiling even though it’s supposedly refrigerated, make the visual checks outlined above to try to discern what the issue is. It may be a problem that you can see and fix on your own, like cleaning a dirt condenser.

However, if it’s something more involved, like a faulty thermostat, your best bet is to call an appliance repair expert. Whether you do the work on your own or call a professional, the most important thing is to get your fridge back in working order. Before You Call The Refrigerator Repair Guys: A Few Simple Tips To Fix Your Fridge Yourself

The fridge is your best friend. It’s also one of the most reliable appliances in the known universe. Unfortunately however, there are times when we need to do a little refrigerator repair. Fridges go on the fritz just like anything else does, but before you call the pros, here are a few things you can do yourself that will fix most problems.

The Lights Are Off And Nobody Is Home

Here’s a common problem – You open the door and the light doesn’t come on. Or the light comes on, but something doesn’t seem like it’s working right. You reach your hand in there and you don’t feel that cool air that’s supposed to be humming through there. This means that your fridge isn’t running. Before you call the professionals, let’s see if you can fix it yourself samsung refrigerator repair los angeles.

First of all, make sure it’s plugged in. You’ll slap yourself on the forehead when you pull on that wire and the plug comes rattling around the corner. You’re not the only one – it’s a common mistake. The fridge needs power, and when there’s no light on, that means you’ve got none. If it’s plugged in and still not keeping things cool, there might be something else wrong.

Check The Cold Control

When all systems seem to be working but it’s just not cold in there like it should be, you need to adjust the cold control. It doesn’t take a refrigerator repair person to figure this out. Just reach in the back somewhere and you’ll find a dial. This dial sets the temperature of your fridge. For one reason or another, it’s been bumped to zero and you just need to turn it up again. Set the temperature according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. Otherwise, you’ll run up your energy bill.

Everything’s Frozen!

On the other hand, when you reach in there for a soda and find a hunk of ice in a can, this means that the thing has gone haywire and it’s running too cold. If it’s freezing everything no matter how you adjust the cold control, this means that its internal control mechanism is broken. This is a bit of refrigerator repair that’s going to need a professional with their tool set and experience to fix.

Water Leaking From The Fridge

This looks like a huge refrigerator repair job, but it’s usually a very minor problem. If you find water leaking out of your fridge, this means that something’s wrong with its self-defrosting system. Probably it’s just clogged and this is not allowing it to drain properly. Turn off your fridge, locate the drainage system and give it a good cleaning with baking soda and water. That should clear up the problem.

If these things don’t help the problem, or it’s something that you can’t handle yourself, feel free to call the refrigerator repair specialists. It’s worth it to have your fridge humming happily, and keeping you perishable food nice and cool. It’s better to shell out a little money than to lose all that food.

Refrigerator Repair – Where and How

A refrigerator is a useful appliance that can be found in almost every home. Although these machines seem strong and sturdy, they can often break down. This is because there are numerous components that all work together to keep a fridge running, so when one of these parts break down, it will affect the entire machine. Fixing refrigerators can be an expensive process, but it will be much cheaper if you learn how to do it yourself.

How Refrigerators Work

Most people think that a fridge cools down objects refrigerator repair san marino, but it actually takes heat away from them. When gases go from a high pressured atmosphere to a low pressured one, the temperature will drop. Each refrigerator has a closed system of tubing and a compressor that holds the gas. The compressor is one of the most expensive parts of a fridge and also the most likely to break down. The gas flows through the coils and to an expansion area inside the freezer section.

A fan is situation inside the tubing to circulate the air while the refrigerant gas is cooling everything down. Most people think that the fan is blowing cold air in, but the fan is actually working to pump the heated air out. The cooled air from many refrigerators is pumped from the freezer. A thermostat inside the fridge will activate the compressor once the temperature is higher than the pre-set level.

When the air in a fridge cools, the process causes condensation to accumulate. Water that condenses inside will turn into frost if the temperature is low enough. Some modern models may have a defroster that prevents any frost from building up. A defroster is a simple heating device that is controlled by a thermostat and timer.

Moving a Fridge

If your fridge is broken, you will likely need to move it either so you can fix it yourself or take it to a repair shop. When moving a fridge, there are some precautions you should take to prevent it from getting broken further. Never try to move it by yourself, find an assistant with a strong arm and good back. Tipping the machine can also be dangerous because it can cause severe injuries if it falls on you. Never carry a fridge down or up staircases without at least two able bodied people.

Different fridges have various numbers and styles of shelves. For most models, the shelves should be taken out, taped up, and placed somewhere safe. Any loose shelves will create a risk of them bouncing around inside and potentially breaking the door if they fall through. Also remember to take out any cubbies, drawers, ice cube trays, and ice buckets.

The doors can easily fly open during transportation, so you’ll want to secure it with tape or a moving strap. Make sure you do not tighten the straps to much or it may put pressure on the door alignment. If the refrigerators needs to be off for more than one day, you should keep the doors open slightly to prevent mildew from building up inside. Try wedging a cloth or towel between the door and frame to allow air circulation. This allows air to travel inside the compartments but will still prevent the door from flying wide open.

Do not lay a refrigerator on its side. This is because the oil inside the compressor may flow into the cooling lines. This can cause problems in the cooling system once the machine has been returned to an upright position. If the machine must be laid over, make sure that it is not lying completely flat. Place an object under the top section to keep it at a tilt so the oil will not leak into other areas. Once you have reached your destination, leave it for a few hours before turning the power back on.

Advice and Tips to Prevent Broken Parts

A refrigerator can consume large amounts of electricity, but newer fridges usually cost less than older models. It may save you more money to purchase a new model instead of having to pay high bills from an outdated system. The ideal temperature is about zero to five degrees Fahrenheit for the freezer and thirty six degrees for the fridge.

Why is My Dryer Not Heating?

CAUTION: Most electric dryers use 220 volts to power the heating element. Always disconnect the dryer power cord from the wall receptacle before doing any tests or repair work.

Here are some tips.

Check the fuses
If you have an electric dryer, the first thing to check are the fuses or breakers in your homes fuse box. If this fuse is blown, it is possible for your dryer to spin but not produce heat. If you’ve checked the fuses and they are not blown, the next possible cause is the heating element.

Check the heating element
To check the heating element, move the back panel of the dryer lg dryer repair los angeles. You’ll need a volt/ohmmeter to check the element terminal. Locate the element and set the volt/ohmmeter on the RX-1 scale. Remove one lead from the element and then place one probe of the volt/ohmmeter on the terminal of the element. Place the other probe of the volt/ohmmeter on the remaining terminal of the element. Look for a continuity reading of the volt/ohmmeter of approximately 2-5 ohms. If there is no continuity reading, the heating element is defective and should be replaced.

LINT- Your dryer’s greatest enemy

To extend the life of your dryer, clean the lint filter every time you use the dryer. Even if the lint filter is cleaned after every load, lint will still accumulate around the dryer’s moving parts, the exhaust duct and vent.

Each year inspect the vent pipe and vent cover operation. Disconnect the exhaust duct and remove lint from the internal exhaust pipe, the duct and the vent. Make sure the duct has no kinks, where lint and moisture can build-up.

Turn off the power, remove the front and rear panels and vacuum out the lint from around the motor and idler.Poor air flow uses more energy and can cause lint build-up in the internal ducting, leading to a fire hazard.

The 400% Dryer – The Best Way To Waste Money And Time

Even after being around and involved in appliance repair for over thirty years, I still have the occasional Never Seen Anything Like IT moments. I had one today as a matter of fact. I received a call about a dryer that wasn’t functioning correctly. The client said that the dryer had never worked properly and that it was getting even worse. It was one of the expensive LG front load dryers that was supposed to be top of the line and energy efficient.

The address they gave was in a very posh section of town, I arrived to a gorgeous two story colonial and the lady of the house ushered me to the laundry room and right away I could see at least part of the problem. The laundry room had been placed in the center of the house in a little closet and for the vented air from the dryer to make it to the exterior it had to go through at least twenty feet of duct.

The next tell tale sign was that the dryer was jammed up tight against the wall maytag dryer repair los angeles. Upon looking it over I realized whoever installed it had done so because they had to in order for the electrical breaker box door to open. My first order of business in a situation like this is to go check where the dryer vents outside to see how much air is flowing out. It doesn’t matter how much a dryer costs or how hot it gets, the main ingredient is having a sufficient volume of air flowing through the machine and moving the moisture that the heat removes from the clothes outside.

The first thing I noticed about the exterior dryer vent was that it was closed. In fact it had never been open, it was one of those that has flaps that the air pushes open and then they close when you are finished drying to keep bugs and critters from exploring your dryer vent. On closer inspection I discovered that when the house had been originally painted about four years hence, they had painted the cover and then the paint had hardened in place and glued the dryer vent shut, the same as paint will often cause a window to stick and not open.

However when I cleaned the paint off and got the flaps opening and closing properly again, there was still no air flowing out. I checked where the dryer was vented into the wall and discover that when the dryer was originally shoved against the wall, the vent hose had been smashed closed, completely shutting off the flow of air to the outside. It was so bad that there was a big U shape in the duct which was filled with this awful sludge of water and lint at the bottom, the worst clog I have ever seen.

The solution was to run a flexible vent hose and to not push the dryer right up next to the wall. Once I did that, I started getting good airflow on the outside at which point I knew the problem was solved. As I was wrapping up and chatting with the client, she told me that they had routinely been running a load of clothes four times through the dryer to get it dry. So they were using four times as much power to dry the clothes as they needed to. Ouch!

The part they didn’t realize was that all that heat which should have been being vented outside was actually being retained in the house and then the air conditioner was having to remove all that heat from the house, I can’t imagine how much more that was tacking onto the power bill as well.

The moral of the story is this: If your dryer is not working correctly, don’t tolerate it, REPAIR IT! Your energy bill will go down, the amount of time you’ll spend doing laundry will go down, your stress level will go down.
